Structural biology has gained importance in life sciences through its increasing impact on various fields of great practical values for the society such as:
- structure-based discovery
- structure-based vaccine design
- structure-based design of biologics
- structure-based design of novel biomaterials
- structure-based protein engineering
This is a newly launched programme combining the Biological Sciences (Honours) with Biomedical Structural Biology as a 2nd
Major in partnership with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKC-MED) and the Division of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry (CBC), School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS).
For students enrolled in this programme, they will provide a unique opportunity to be cross-trained in biology and structural biology including its medicinal chemistry and biotechnological aspects.
This is a unique and highly competitive programme and only offered to students with strong academic standing with interest and abilities in analytical aspects of life sciences including its biophysical aspects.
Direct entry to year 2 is not applicable for this programme.
Graduates of this programme have enhanced working opportunities to work in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in research and development in areas such as drug discovery, protein engineering and vaccine design.
